“That’s Some Good Boob Cake!”

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, today October 10th is National Boob Cake Day.

Make sure to celebrate it. Surprise your coworkers and bring them the joys of this little known celebration.

It was created 3 years ago, when the National Cancer Health Organization wanted to make people more aware that breast health issues are not just for women.

According to Susan Schmitmauder, director of the NCHO, “Most people think of breast cancer as a woman’s disease. Sure breast cancer is about 100 times less common among men than among women; and a man’s lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1/10th of 1% (1 in 1,000), but that doesn’t mean there is no risk. No one ever talks about it and many men are completely unaware of the risks, or symptoms. By the time they seek medical attention it’s often in the later stages and their chances of survival are greatly reduced. Our goal is to make them aware of their risk and their options.”

Director Schmitmauder said that, “… studies show that the number of breast cancer cases in men relative to the population has been fairly stable over the last 30 years, but it’s still taking people’s lives, this year about 450 men will die from breast cancer in the United States. We want that number to someday be less than 100, and then zero, but we can’t do it without making people aware.”

Researchers at the NCHO found that men were more receptive to information when there was cake involved. In field studies it was shown that men were 23% more likely to approach a breast cancer awareness information station offering cake, than one that offered information alone.

It’s a fact: Americans, and not just men, idolize big breasts. Every year, American women spend millions of dollars on implants, cosmetic procedures, breast enlargement pills, pumps and creams.

The NCHO found that the role that big breasts play in our culture and society was going to be the key to attracting the men they so desperately needed to inform about this important issue.

Studies showed that men were 75% more likely to approach a table containing breast cancer awareness information if there were images of naked female breasts and cake in the station. Researchers then decided to see what would happen if they combined the breasts with the cake, it was shown that men were 92% more likely to approach the station and leave with information pamphlets. And so National Boob Cake Day was born.

Being informative and politically incorrect never tasted so good.

  1. Very informative. The National Cancer Health Organization must be one of these shadow organizations created by the US government in the 1950s to promote cancer awareness. Or perhaps they are a rogue offshoot of the National Cancer Institute who does what they want when they want.
