“Books on TV” Then Everything Changed
With the rise of streaming media, Americans are being bombarded with more entertainment options than ever before. Book publishers now realize their businesses are in jeopardy if they cannot adapt. The first wave of devices created to modernize the book format such as the Amazon Kindle and the Barnes & Noble Nook have not succeeded in revitalizing the industry.
A source familiar with the matter, but not authorized to comment officially stated, “The first wave of never devices has failed. When you can buy a real used book for a penny on Amazon, why would anyone pay full retail prices upwards of $14.99 for an ebook? It a ridiculous concept. Face it. Reading is over. The future books on TV.”
“Books on TV” is the latest innovation from the book publishing industry.
Kristi S. Ware, leader of the Albany, FL book club and beta tester for the new product offers her option. “It was really neat. Books on TV has live people reciting dialogue from the book and acting it out for easy understanding.”
Movie studios have a lot to fear. “Books on TV” channel will being appearing on cable next spring. Dedicated Apple TV, iOS, and Android apps will release soon after. Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu all announced they will carry “Books on TV” releases, with each locking up their own exclusive deals. Some majore “Books on TV” releases will even start appearing at select movie and drive-in theatres in our local area under the “Books on the Bigscreen” moniker.
Donald R. Katz, CEO for audiobook giant Audible.com could not be reached for comment, but his wife told us he looked like he was really pissed when he heard the news.
