“Dead Rabbit” Dr. Denys Committing Innocent Girl

A Denver woman who believed her daughter to be suffering from bi-polar disorder attempted to have her committed to St. Anthony’s Hospital Mental Health Ward.

The staff doctor examined the daughter, determined there to be nothing wrong with her, and sent them home.  The mother later called the hospital claiming to have killed a rabbit and told the receptionist to to tell the doctor “she knows who’s next.”

Hours later, the angry mother showed up at the hospital with the mutilated rabbit and a water bottle filled with gasoline.  She screamed at the doctor,”Admit my daughter, she’s a psycho!! or you’ll be the next rabbit!”Four nurses were able to restrain the angry woman until authorities arrived.  Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the girl was actually the woman’s niece, not her daughter.  Apparently, the woman was watching her niece during spring break as a favor to her sister.  The girl was, according to the woman, bi-polar because she was “extremely noisy and always wanting too many meals.”

The girl was returned to her real mother, and the aunt was sentenced to a $2,500 dollar fine and a maximum of 5 years in county jail.  The local ASPCA chapter is considering filing charges against her for cruelty to animals which could add additional jailtime.  The doctor and nurses at the hospital are also reportedly in discussions with lawyers and considering bringing a civil suit against the woman.
